PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an established design procedure of a resonator which can be applied for general purposes to increase a Q value, in addition to a conventional process of increasing the Q value by adjusting only a hole C closest to point defects, to obtain adequate Q value even in a strong optical waveguide coupling state which is indispensable for realizing an integrated optical circuit, for an Lx resonator using a photonic crystal.SOLUTION: A hole adjustment rule which can be applied for general purposes is provided even with different photonic crystal materials, crystal periods, hole sizes (radius, and such), and thicknesses of plates with high refractive index. In an Lx resonator, a hole A on an axis adjacent to a continuous point defect axis is shifted toward a resonator center direction along a &Ggr;-K direction. A first closest hole C with respect to point detects at both ends and a second closest hole D adjacent to the outer side of the hole C are shifted outward along the &Ggr;-K direction, so that a shift amount of the hole D is approximately 1/2 of a shift amount of the hole C. |
