The objective of the invention is to provide a mobile electronic device capable of performing a desirable search. A mobile telephone device (1) comprises a communication unit (15), an acceleration sensor (16) and a control unit (18). The communication unit (15) performs communications using a wireless communication system of WiFi that is compliant with IEEE802.11. The acceleration sensor (16) detects acceleration. In a predetermined case, the control unit (18) controls the communication unit (15) to search for a WiFi-supporting base station. The predetermined case is a case where it is determined, on the basis of the acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor (16), that the status of the mobile telephone device (1) has transitioned from a moving state to a standstill state. |
