The stationary containment shell made from metal has an air gap that is formed between drive-side driver (1a) and output-side runner (1b). A coating consisting of hard material such as tungsten carbide, is applied at the outer and inner sides of shell main portion (2) by high-speed flame spraying so that the shell is mechanically stabilized. The thickness of coating is set within the range of 50-200 mu m. The hardness of coating is in the range of 400-1200HV. The coating is formed by particles with a particle size of less than 15 mu m. An independent claim is included for method for the manufacture of stationary containment shell.
