A method and apparatus are disclosed for recording features relative to a geographical location. A shape (5, 15) is arranged on a computer screen (1). At least one first datum point (17) forming a predetermined part of the shape is associated with a second datum point in the form of a geographical location. The shape is stored in a database together with the first and second datum points. A marking system employing the method or apparatus comprises a further apparatus (21) including a line marking device (29) which incorporates a positioning system (35). |
