PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect presence of an occupant without false detection in consideration of influence of a lighting in a compartment in nighttime and a dark place.SOLUTION: An occupant detection device for vehicle 1 of the present invention comprises: a vehicle state determination unit 2 determining an own vehicle state based on a vehicle signal; a standard image capturing unit 3 capturing an image in a compartment of an own vehicle as a standard image with a compartment camera 27; a comparison image capturing unit 4 capturing an image in the compartment of the own vehicle as a comparison image with the compartment camera 27; a light projection control unit 5 controlling the lighting of a compartment lighting 31 and an infrared projector 32, and harmonizing the lighting of the compartment lighting 31 and the infrared projector 32 at the time of the capturing of the standard image and the lighting of the compartment lighting 31 and the infrared projector 32 at the time of the capturing of the comparison image; and an image comparison/determination unit 6 determining presence of an occupant by comparing the comparison image with the standard image. |
