In an igniter (200) with no depression IGBT, the distance between a main IGBT (3) and a sense IGBT (4) is set to be not less than 100 mum and not more than 700 mum and preferably not less than 100 mum and not more than 200 mum. The igniter (200) is controlled such that a sense current of the sense IGBT (4) is saturated before an overcurrent in the main IGBT (3) reaches a predetermined upper-limit value. Thus, a small-size igniter (200) in which overshoot of a collector current of the main IGBT (3) during current limitation is prevented, and a small-size internal combustion engine ignition apparatus (100) equipped with the igniter (200) to prevent erroneous ignition can be provided. |
