Abstract This invention relates to a non-woven fabric manufacturing process. More specifically, the invention relates to a non-woven fabric manufacturing process using recycled carpet and products produced using this process. According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a method for making a nonwoven fabric product from carpet, the method including; -tearing an amount of carpet to produce carpet rag fibre; -mixing carpet rag fibre with a polyester fibre to produce a blended fibre; -carding the blended fibre into a fibre web; -cross lapping the fibre web to form a layered fibre web; -needling the layered fibre web; and -heat setting and compressing the layered fibre web.
