PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small photographic lens having satisfactory optical performance, an optical apparatus having the photographic lens, and a method for manufacturing the photographic lens. SOLUTION: The photographic lens SL mounted in an electronic still camera or the like includes, in order from an object side, a first lens group G1 of positive refractive power, a second lens group G2 of positive refractive power, and a third lens group G3 of positive refractive power. For focusing from an infinity object point to a proximity object point, the interval between the first and second lens groups G1 and G2 and the interval between the second and third lens groups G2 and G3 change. In addition, the third lens group G3 is formed from four or fewer lenses so as to have at least one negative lens and one positive lens disposed closest to the object side and the image side respectively.
