The installation has a power supply device (15) connected with energy monitoring unit (1) which determines the current environmental temperature and value of voltage and/or current currently supplied by power supply device. The current and maximum expectable residual capacity of supply device is determined. The minimum environmental temperature expected within maximum expectable residual capacity is determined. The probable residual capacity of supply device is determined. A signal is generated when probable residual capacity is below preset minimum residual capacity.
