The present technology relates to a reception apparatus, a terminal apparatus, a control method, a program, and a communication system for controlling the operation of an external apparatus connected to the reception apparatus in interlocked relation to AV content. The reception apparatus executes a first application program in response to a first command for controlling the operation of the first application program executed in interlocked relation to the AV content; transmits to an external apparatus a second command for controlling the operation of a second application program when the external apparatus is connected to the reception apparatus and targeted to be operated in interlocked relation to the AV content; receives the first command transmitted from the external apparatus executing the second application program; and executes the first application program in response to the received first command.
