An artists canvas comprising a sheet provided with fold lines and interlocking means whereby the canvas is capable of lying flat and is capable of being folded along the said fold lines to provide a base 3 and walls 2, 4 to support the display surface 1 of the canvas and the interlocking means 12, 13 are provided in the base and walls so that upon assembly the means interlock to form an uninterrupted surface for display and supporting side walls for the display surface of the canvas. The canvas may be formed of a single piece of material (typically cardboard or paper) which may be coated to provide additional strength. The display surface may be coated to be receptive to the materials used by the artist, for example with a thin layer of clay which is receptive to inks but prevents spreading of superimposed images. |
