Improved methods and kits for treating the long-term complications of diabetes that reduce the risk of the patient developing hypoglycemia during C-peptide therapy. The use of such methods and kits can also maintain good glycemic control and avoid excessive weight gain that may otherwise be associated with excessive insulin administration or caloric intake during C-peptide therapy.
