PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean the whole region of a protective member certainly and simply by using a transfer means. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer performs scanning of a carriage 2, in the cleaning mode, each time when a creased recording paper P is transferred with a feed amount equal to or smaller than the contact width of a contact part 18, by controlling a carriage drive motor by a carriage control part and controlling a paper feed motor and a paper discharge motor by a transfer control part, in a state where the creased recording paper P is mounted on the transfer surface 8a so that the direction of crease is parallel with the scanning direction, and the crease part is separated from the transfer surface 8a when facing the ink ejection surface.
