The present invention relates to electronic equipment and a power controlling method thereof. The electronic equipment includes a system unit which performs an operation by being supplied with power; and a power supply unit which includes a power control unit controlling the output of standby power, a first switching unit operating by receiving the output power of the power control unit, and a converting unit transmitting power supplied from the first switching unit to a secondary part and supplies the secondary power of the converting unit to the system unit as the standby power. The power control unit includes: a PWM generating unit which generates a PWM signal; and a second switching unit which selectively supplies power to the PWM generating unit by being turned on/off according to external input signals. By the forementioned, the present invention is able to keep standby power which is consumed in a standby mode in order to be close to a zero watt by selectively supplying power to the PWM generating unit of the power control unit.
