PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly specify a coated optical fiber for maintaining optical drop cables or optical indoor cables with a built-in optical connector. SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 is composed by providing, in a sleeve-shaped housing 2: a ferrule 3 in which part of a built-in optical fiber 33 is inserted and fixed; and a clamp part 4 in which the projected part of the built-in optical fiber 33 projected from the ferrule 3 and an optical fiber 13a which is butted and connected to the projected part of the built-in optical fiber 33 are pinched by a pair of half-split structured elements 41, 42 and clamped and fixed by elastic force of a sleeve-shaped spring 43 mounted on the pair of elements 41, 42. The pair of elements 41, 42 are formed of a translucent material which permits the passing of visible light, further, the housing 2 is formed so that the visible light advancing from the elements 41, 42 side to the housing 2 side may be radiated to the outside of the housing 2.
