A base or mounting fixture 1 is provided for mounting thereon or therein an alerting device 2 and/or a fire detector. The base 1 comprises a chamber 15 adapted to accommodate therein an alerting device 2. The base 1 further comprises a housing part 6 to accommodate thereon or therein, or comprise, a fire detector mounting base 10. The housing part 6 may comprise a locking arrangement for locking an alerting device 2 in place in or on the base 1. The locking arrangement may comprise one or more clips 16,18. The alerting device 2 may be an audible and/or visual alarm device, and may comprise an external housing 46 that is of a cartridge or cassette form. The locking arrangement may be configured such that it only locks when an alerting device is mounted within the base. |
