The device (100) has an evaluation unit (200) and three displacement sensors (121.1,121.2,121.3) working in a contact less manner. The displacement sensors are arranged in a predetermined geometric constellation to a rotational axis (A1) and are connected with the evaluation unit. The output signals (a.1,a.2,a.3) of the displacement sensors are processed with the help of evaluation unit. An independent claim is included for a method for positioning a precision component on a rotary table.
