<p>A display unit comprises a display stand 2, an electrically operated source of ultra-violet light and at least one marking t/g comprising a material that fluoresces when irradiated with ultra-violet light. A proximity control unit may be provided to illuminate the UV light source only when the presence of a person is detected, e.g. by means of a PIR sensor. The display stand may be constructed from cardboard and the ultra-violet light source may comprise strips of LEDs 18 mounted on an interior surface of the display unit as to be at least partially shielded from extraneous light. The interior surface may further comprise fluorescent ink 13, visible through at least one open-fronted compartment or aperture in front face 9. The apertures may be in the form of textual or graphical cut-outs which receive fluorescent backlighting.</p> |
