PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique for increasing the possibility that a slave base station communicates with a communication terminal while the slave base station receives a signal transmitted from a reference base station. SOLUTION: A radio communication system 1A is provided with: the slave base station 20A having a plurality of antennas AJ1 to AJ4; and the reference base station 10 configured to transmit a predetermined signal to the slave base station 20A, and the slave base station 20A has: an antenna setting control means of setting at least one of the plurality of antennas AJ1 to Aj4 as an antenna for reception for the predetermined signal and at least two of the plurality of antennas AJ1 to AJ4 as antennas for communication with a communication terminal 30; and a directivity control means of controlling the directivity of an array antenna comprising the antenna for communication, the directivity control means directing a directivity drop part to the direction of the antenna for reception.
