PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element (organic EL element) with high efficiency and long life. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has an anode, a first light emitting layer, a second light emitting layer, and a cathode in this order, wherein the first light emitting layer includes a host 1 and a dopant 1, LUMO(DA<SB>A</SB>) of the dopant 1 being larger than LUMO(HA<SB>A</SB>) of the host 1, and the second light emitting layer includes a host 2 and a dopant 2, HOMO(DI<SB>B</SB>) of the second dopant 2 being smaller than HOMO(HI<SB>B</SB>) of the host 2.
