<p>The present invention relates to a system and a method for providing a multimedia player using a web browser, including: a multimedia player service apparatus for providing a multimedia player application processing a web intent including a replay command for multimedia data; a web site service apparatus for providing a web intent including the position of the multimedia data and a replay command for the multimedia data; and a user terminal which executes the replay command included in the web intent by calling out the multimedia player application in case the multimedia player application provided by the multimedia player service apparatus is registered and the web intent is received from the web site service apparatus. Accordingly, the system enables a user to appreciate multimedia data provided from various sites easily by using a player installed in a web browser of the user without installing a player provided from a corresponding site, by providing the player for replaying the multimedia data on the web browser.
