Disperse dyes of Formula I in which R 1 is a halogen atom (Br or Cl) or a cyano or acylamino group, .R 2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group, R 3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy, or acylamino group, R 4 is an alkyl group which may be substituted by one or more halogen atoms or hydroxyl, cyano, alkoxy, halogenalkoxy, acyl or acyloxy groups and R 5 is a hydrogen atom, a benzyl group or an alkyl group which may be substituted by one or more chlorine or bromine atoms or hydroxyl, cyano, alkoxy, halogenalkoxy, acyl or acyloxy groups the term " acyl " standing preferably for groups of formula -COR or -SO 2 R where R is alkyl or phenyl which may bear non-water solubilizing groups or when R is phenyl also nitro or alkyl groups, and may be bound via an oxygen or -NH bridge to the -CO- group or directly to the -SO 2 - group and acyloxy is a group -OCOR in which R is as above, are prepared by conventional diazotization and coupling procedures. The dyes give red, violet and blue shades in polyester and nylon materials.
