Control apparatus for the door of an elevator, dumbwaiter or the like and which can reverse or stop door movement if closing is obstructed comprises a control cable 30 extending from a bracket 31 along guide shoes 17 of a pair of opposed gates 12 and 44, a centrally pivoted lever 33 adjustably connected to the far end of the cable and engaged by a spring 36 and a plunger 42 of a switch 40, and contact means carried by the gate 12 which, when obstructed, engages the cable to exert pressure against the lever 33 and spring causing the lever to rotate and push in the plunger. The contact means (Fig. 6) comprises a contact bar 61 movably mounted by means of pivoted links 60 on a mounting bar 51 attached to a bracket 47 of gate 12. An arm 63 is pivotally attached at the cable side of bar 61 and extends through a slot 65 in a limit stop plate 66, the arm having a link portion 67 and plate portion 68 to which is attached an L-shaped rod 69 which extends around the cable for engagement therewith upon obstruction of the gate. The contact means may be housed in a flexible U-shaped sheath 54 of rubber or plastics material. |
