The present invention relates to a robot which estimates the location of a counterpart robot through data communications, a method for estimating the location of a robot, and a recording medium for recording a program for executing the method. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for estimating the location of a robot is to estimate the location of a robot which is placed at a fixed interval and has multiple infrared ray transmitting sensors and multiple infrared ray receiving sensors allocated with a location identification number according to the placement location. The method for estimating the location of a robot comprises as follows: a step of receiving the data transmitted from a specific robot through the infrared ray receiving sensor of the robot (including the ID of the robot and the location identification number of the infrared ray transmitting sensor); and a step of calculating a relative direction to the specific robot using the received data and the location identification number of the infrared ray receiving sensor.
