The present invention provides a method for providing a service by a Machine-to-Machine (M2M) device and an apparatus thereof. Included in the method are: a step of transmitting a request for a first authentication, which includes an identifier of the M2M device, to a network security capability (NSEC); a step of performing an extensible authentication protocol (EAP) authentication with the NSEC; and a step of creating a secret key using either a master session key (MSK) or the identifier of the M2M device when the first authentication is successful.
