The present invention provides a system and a method for managing a port and shipping container using a smart phone, which are for managing information of the port and shipping container efficiently using a smart phone, instead of a PDA used in a port and a ship by reflecting the request of obtaining container information efficiently and reliably as assuring safety of the container under the port distribution environment. The system of the present invention includes: a container control part for outputting state information of a container sensed through a sensor part attached to the container through a communication module; a dongle for performing communication with the container control part by using a frequency of 400 MHz-450 MHz on the basis of TinyOS; a smart phone for controlling and managing the dongle through a smart phone app using an android open accessory development kit (ADK) based on Android; and a management server for receiving, collecting and managing the state information of the container through the smart phone.
