The present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring a sound wave transmission velocity and a method for measuring a sound wave transmission velocity using the same, capable of easily and accurately measuring the transmission velocity of sound wave which passes various materials such as a marine sediment sample. The purpose of the present invention is to solve a problem of the conventional measuring system, that is, difficulties in accurate measurement due to the absence of a fixating unit which surely fixates a measuring unit so that a measurement value cannot be influenced by vibration in the measuring unit, or the absence of a distance measuring unit which is formed to accurately measure a distance from a sound wave transmitting and receiving unit. Therefore, the apparatus for measuring a sound wave transmission velocity and the method for measuring a sound wave transmission velocity using the same can easily and accurately measure the sound wave transmission velocity of a sample in a vertical and a horizontal direction.
