599444 Disclosed herein is a compound of formula (I) wherein the variables are defined in the specification; the use thereof in the treatment of a microbial infection; and a process for the preparation thereof comprising: reacting an α,&bgr; unsaturated acid with an amine, or reacting an acid halid with an amine, or reacting an acrylamide with an alkyl halide.
