The method involves increasing portion of a fuel and reducing portion of another fuel with an intermediate fuel relationship. The engine is operated with the intermediate fuel relationship for a defined time interval, and further increase of the portion of latter fuel and reduction of the portion of former fuel with another fuel relationship. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a control unit, which is provided for fuel change over; and (2) a multi fuel engine, which has a control unit.
