<p>The invention relates to a stand and a method for measuring friction forces in knitting needles within the slot of the bed of a knitting machine. According to the invention, the stand comprises a device (3) on which there is fixed a slot (17) of the needle bed on which a knitting needle (24) is positioned, being actuated by some cams (13 and 14), namely a lifting one and a lowering one, fixed on a sliding plate (16) which moves on two guides (4), driven by a flexible metal wire (8) fixed on a hub (7) of a D.C. motor (6) which is controlled by two micro switches (10) as to perform an alternating motion. The method, as claimed by the invention, consists in that the movement of the cams (13 and 14) acts onto the butt (26) of the knitting needle (24) which makes it move within the slot (17) of the bed, the friction forces leading to the deformation of four resilient laminas (20) and eight strain gauges (22) the deformation of which is transmitted to a data measuring system (23) which simultaneously measures the friction forces along two directions, in the horizontal plane.</p> |
