The tensioner (1) has a main body (8) and a wire winder (11) rotationally mounted with the main body (8) about an axis of rotation, such that the wire winder (11) and the main body (8) are in a ratchet relationship with each other by way of an interaction between a toothed gear and a complimentary series of ratchet teeth (36) spaced about the axis of rotation. The ratchet teeth (36) are formed integrally with one or other of the body (8) or the wire winder (11). The wire winder (11) is configured to allow part of the wire to be wound up onto it so as to tension the wire, and to be able to be driven for rotation in one rotational direction and to prevent rotation relative to the main body (8) in the opposite rotational direction. |
