摘要 PURPOSE: A method for predicting the thickness of a solidified shell in continuous casting is provided to effectively predict the thickness of the solidified shell at an outlet of a mold, thereby producing a slab of a high quality. CONSTITUTION: A method for predicting the thickness of a solidified shell in continuous casting includes the following steps of: measuring the casting speed in continuous casting; calculating the total heat of a mold is calculated by using at least one operation variable among a flow rate of cooling water, the density of the cooling water, a temperature difference of the cooling water at an inlet and an outlet, the length of the mold touching the molten steel, and the width of the mold; and calculating and predicting the thickness of the solidified shell at the outlet of the mold by having the calculated total heat of the mold and the measured casting speed as variables.
