The method involves placing a lining (10) on a reception surface (9), and maintaining the surface on a support (3). Bread slices (15, 16) are placed on both sides of the surface maintained on the support, where the slices are placed above and below the surface. One of the slices is pressed on the lining placed on the reception surface. The bread slices are moved with respect to the reception surface in direction of evacuation edge of the reception surface, so that the lining slips out of the reception surface and is found between the bread slices so as to form a sandwich. An independent claim is also included for an assembly for preparing a sandwich from bread slices.
