PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device, an input method and a program that are capable of recognizing a gesture operation as well as a pointing operation.SOLUTION: An input device determines input by a user on the basis of a motion of a hand of the user in a captured image associated with an operation screen with a point area displayed thereon. The input device includes an input determination unit 155 for determining whether the input by the user is a point area selection operation or a gesture operation on the basis of a change in a shape of the user's hand in the captured image generated by movement of the user's hand.
