The safety arrangement (3) has a communication channel and a unit for determining the identity of the rails (2) of the vehicle, on which the vehicle seat (1) is fastened. The seat is detachably fixed at the rails. The rails have a longitudinal marker and the seat has a sensor (5) for detecting the longitudinal marker. The rails also have a transverse marker and the seat has another sensor (4) for detecting the transverse marker. The rails are extended parallel to longitudinal axis of the vehicle. An independent claim is included for a method for determining the position of a variable and equal seats fixed at a rail in the vehicle.
