Provided are a print medium-conveying device and inkjet printing device capable of conveying print media without generating wrinkles, lifting or scratching. In one embodiment of the present invention, the surface of paper (P) that is passed to the image-printing drum (41) is pressed by a pressing roller (42) to adhere closely to the circumferential surface of the image-printing drum (41). At a position just prior to entry between the image-printing drum (41) and the pressing roller (42), the surface of the paper (P) is suctioned using a suction unit (310) and back tension is applied. The application of back tension is turned ON/OFF in accordance with the paper thickness. For paper (P) of a thickness at or above a threshold, the application of back tension is turned OFF. Scratching of the surface of stiff paper (P) by strong contact with the adhesive holding surface (318) of the suction unit (310) can thereby be prevented. |
