A semiconductor light-emitting device includes: a semiconductor chip having a nonpolar plane as a growth surface and configured to emit polarized light; and a reflector having a reflective surface. When a plane forming an angle of 45° relative to a direction of polarization of the polarized light is a plane L45, the reflective surface of the reflector reflects at least a part of light in the plane L45 in a normal line direction of the growth surface of the semiconductor light-emitting chip. The reflector includes a plurality of reflective surfaces, the plurality of reflective surfaces are arranged in a shape of a square in plan view, and when an angle between the direction of polarization of the polarized light and one side of the shape formed by the plurality of reflective surfaces is theta2, the angle theta2 is not less than 17° and not more than 73°. |
