METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING A BLANK INTO A THREE DIMENSIONAL FORM

Apparatus is provided for forming a blank in the form of a piece of substantially flat material (10) into a three dimensional, essentially conical form (13). The apparatus comprises a creasing station (51, 54) for putting two creases (11a, 11b) in the blank that intersect at a point, and a cone forming station (20). The cone forming station includes a male head assembly (22) for pushing the blank through a female die assembly (23) by application of a driving force at the point of intersection of the creases. The female die assembly includes means (28a, 28b) for applying a resistive force to the blank in the opposite direction at points along one of the creases.
