<p>The present invention relates to an anticancer composition and to a food composition for preventing or alleviating cancer, the composition comprising, as active ingredients: (1) a biguanide compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; (2) 2-deoxy-D-glucose or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and (3) 5-hydroxymethylfurfural or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and/or citric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and the present invention also relates to a method for preventing or treating cancer, the method comprising a step in which the anticancer composition is administered to an individual. The anticancer composition of the present invention is a synergistic composite preparation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, metformin, phenformin, 2-deoxy-D-glucose and citric acid and, as such, can suppress survival of cancer cells while using each preparation in a smaller amount than when used singly, and the composition is not toxic towards normal cells but at the same time can selectively suppress the cell cycles of cancer cells, and induce death thereof, and hence can advantageously be used as an anticancer agent which is free from side effects.</p> |
