The present invention relates to a device for grouping cells which groups cells in a volume image taken by a microscope. The device comprises the following steps: a cell location detection unit converting the volume image into a binary image, and detecting the location of a single cell based on the binary image; a cross section image taking unit calculating a main axis passing through the center of the single cell using main component analysis, and cutting the single cell to the surface crossing the main axis to obtain a cross section image; a cell region dividing unit dividing the cell region and the background from the cross section image based on a brightness change in the cross section image by a halo effect; and a cell grouping unit grouping the single cell based on the shape of the cell region divided by the cell region dividing unit.
