Provided is an electronic component that can have reduced housing space in the fitting direction of a terminal and a terminal fitting. A relay (1A) has: a relay main body (2) of which the outer shape is a rectangular solid; and a plurality of plate-shaped terminals (3) that protrude from the relay main body (2) and that are fitted to the terminal fitting. The relay main body (2) has: an opposing top surface (2a) and bottom surface (2b); an opposing lateral surface (2c) and lateral surface (2d); and an opposing lateral surface (2e) and lateral surface (2f). Of the plurality of terminals (3), a total of four are provided, and two protrude from each of the opposing lateral surface (2c) and lateral surface (2d). In other words, the plurality of terminals (3) protrude from the lateral surfaces (2c, 2d) parallel to the fitting direction (arrow K) of the terminal fitting (4) and the terminals (3) in the relay main body (2).
