Disclosed is a method for extracting metal ions from red mud using ultrasonic waves, capable of effectively extracting metal ions from red mud, which is waste remaining after the extraction of aluminum from bauxite. The method for extracting metal ions from red mud using ultrasonic waves according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: (a) a step of feeding 1) neutralized red mud slurry and an acid solution or 2) powdered red mud, distilled water, and an acid solution into a reactor inserted in a constant-temperature chamber, heating the constant-temperature chamber so as to cause the reaction of the red mud slurry in the reactor and applying ultrasonic waves in order to elute metal ions from the red mud; and (b) a step of filtering the reaction product after step (a) so as to separate and recover red mud residue and the solution remaining after the extraction. In step (a), the application of the ultrasonic waves is performed by applying ultrasonic waves to an ultrasonic tip arranged in the constant-temperature chamber using an ultrasonic-wave generator. |
