PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition effective in reducing blood pressure.SOLUTION: The composition includes as an effective component an effective amount of combination of lycopene and a carotenoid such as lutein. In a preferable embodiment, lycopene and lutein exert together a synergetic therapeutic effect for lowering blood pressure. The composition may further include other agents such as carotenoids and other phytochemical found in tomato oleoresin such as tocopherol, &bgr;-carotene, phytoene, phytofluene, phytosterol, tomato oil and phospholipid. |
