Pyrotechnic igniter (100) comprises an ignition bridge, a pyrotechnic composition, which is associated with the ignition bridge, and an energy absorbing additive. The mass ratio of the energy-absorbing additive to the pyrotechnic composition is at least 0.2, more preferably 0.2 to 1.5. The pyrotechnic composition comprises a fuel and an oxidizing agent. The fuel comprises magnesium, aluminum, magnesium aluminum alloys, titanium, zirconium, titanium-aluminum alloys, lithium hydride, magnesium hydride, lithium aluminum hydride, titanium hydride, tungsten, zirconium and/or tungsten alloys. Pyrotechnic igniter comprises an ignition bridge, a pyrotechnic composition, which is associated with the ignition bridge, and an energy absorbing additive. The mass ratio of the energy-absorbing additive to the pyrotechnic composition is at least 0.2, more preferably 0.2 to 1.5. The pyrotechnic composition comprises a fuel and an oxidizing agent in a stoichiometric ratio.
