PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing stains on a rear face of paper and on side faces of the paper without changing image quality on the paper during frameless printing.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a toner image holding body that holds a toner image; a primary transfer member that is arranged opposite to the toner image holding body with an intermediate transfer body interposed therebetween, and presses the intermediate transfer body to transfer the toner image held on the toner image holding body onto the intermediate transfer body; a secondary transfer member that is arranged opposite to the intermediate transfer body, comes into contact with a rear face of a recording medium to apply charge to the recording medium, and thereby to transfer the toner image on the intermediate transfer body onto the recording medium; determination means for determining the presence of the frameless printing to form the toner image without providing margins to the recording medium; and a pressure mechanism that adjusts pressing force by the primary transfer member to the intermediate transfer body, and increases the pressing force of the primary transfer member during the frameless printing larger than that during normal printing. |
