[Also in Division B8] Members 7, 8 (Fig. 2), pull a heat-sealable lining 6 into the flattened position shown, where it is held by plates 9, 10; the members 7, 8 are then removed and the lining is sealed by heated members (40), (41), (Fig. 4, not shown), extending the full length of the lining. In the embodiment described, the members 7, 8 are made of a resilient wire, and the plates 9, 10 may be cooled, e.g. by water flowing through them. The lining material may be plastics, paper, metal foil or a laminate, and may be coated on the inner side with a heat-sealable lacquer. |
