The method involves registering electrical parallel connections to connect battery cells. The open circuit voltage is registered to associate battery cell according to magnitude and direction. The registered data is evaluated to identify battery cells having wrong polarity or amount concerning open circuit voltage. The balancing current in Kirchhoff's stitch is measured during electrical parallel connection of battery cells and ruled. The balancing current is limited on given amount larger than zero of charge equalization and aborted when balancing current falls below given amount.
