PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery electrode using a silicone-based active substance material having a large volume change in charge/discharge cycles to exhibit excellent and stable performance, and a technique of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: An anode active material layer of a line-and-space structure consisting of a plurality of mutually separated stripe-like active material patterns 121 by applying a coating liquid L containing a silicone-based active material to an anode current collector 11. An anode electrode formed in such a manner is able to control the direction in which the active material expands when charged, and has the expansion absorbed by a void between the stripe-like active material patterns 121, so that a capacity reduction due to the breakage or separation of the patterns can be restrained.
