PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reduce power consumption by making it possible to stop supplying power to pixels not required to be operated in a solid state imaging device in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in a row direction.SOLUTION: A solid state imaging device 8-1 includes an imaging element array comprising n imaging elements. The imaging elements each have pixels that convert light into an electric signal, a switch that transfers the electric signal converted by the pixels to the subsequent stage, and an analog-digital converter that digitizes the electric signal transferred from the switch. The n imaging elements are divided into four parts in a main scanning direction, and are each individually supplied with power from power source terminals Vcc 1 to Vcc 4 through power supply switches Sw 1 to Sw 4. Accordingly, power can be supplied only to a part required to be operated according to a width of a document to be read.
