The present invention relates to an air conditioner for a vehicle and more specifically, to an air conditioner for a vehicle which can realize seven modes by adding a vent-defrost mode opening a face vent and a defrost vent, and all modes opening all vents besides a basic air discharge mode, by forming a main aperture part and a sub aperture part to open the defrost vent by being separated from the main aperture part in a fixed interval on a thin plate member of a mode door, and forming a first closing member to close the sub aperture part in the inner side of the face vent. The air conditioner of the present invention also can prevent air leak through the first closing member when the sub aperture part is located in the side of the face vent, and can prevent deformation of a boss part partitioning the defrost vent and the face vent. Also, the air conditioner of the present invention can reduce manufacturing costs by realizing seven modes using one mode door, and can improve comfortability by providing further various air discharge modes for passengers.
